Turku Art Society, which administrates the Turku Art Museum, provides annually grants to professional visual artists living in the Turku area.

The following grants can be applied from 10 March to 10 April 2025:

• 10 000 € artist grant from Magnus and Ellen Dahlström Fund
• 5 000 € artist grant from the Helena Bruun Fund
• 1 000 € travel grant (5 pcs)
• Monthly grant of 500 €/month for artists going to international artist residencies. You can apply for a monthly allowance for up to six months. (6 pcs)

A grant can be applied by submitting an online application. The service is open during the application period 10 March – 10 April 2025. You can apply until 23:59 pm local Finnish Time on the deadline date. Also applications on paper can be delivered by post.

The board of the Turku Art Society has chosen visual artist Henna Aho as the next Henry Lönnfors studio artist. Aho will have free access to the attic studio located in Puolalanpuisto for the years 2024–2026. According to Jaakko Ossa, Chairman of the Board of the Turku Art Society, Aho’s practice and production shows vision and courage to be in tune with the times. The Art Association is pleased to support and enable Aho’s work, which insightfully combines tradition and contemporary art, conceptualism and everyday life .

Henna Aho (b. 1977, Turku) is a multidisciplinary visual artist known for her abstract, large-scale, material-based constructions that combine painting, hand-woven textiles and various objects. Her works are inspired by the confluence of fine art, folk art and design. Aho is interested in exploring colour, form and materiality, narratives, the home environment, everyday life, yoga, embodiment and breathing techniques, poetic combinations of elements and neo-spiritual mysticism.

Every three years the board of the Turku Art Society selects an artist for the Henry Lönnfors Studio based on the applications. Aho is now the seventh artist working in the studio.

According to the will of Henry Lönnfors (1939–2004), a long-term treasurer of the Turku Art Society, a studio bearing his name was established in 2004. Henry Lönnfors Studio is located in the heart of Turku in Puolalanpuisto park on the top floor of condominium Albatross. The studio with a kitchenette is about 30m² and is for work only, not for living.

Every three years the board of the Turku Art Society selects an artist for the Henry Lönnfors Studio based on the applications. All professional visual artists can apply for the studio. The selected artist will receive free access to the studio. Next application pediod will be in fall 2026.
