Arriving on Foot or by Bicycle
The museum is easily accessible and located along good transport routes. It is easy to reach the museum hill on foot or by bicycle from several directions. The shortest route from the Market Square is via Aurakatu, but if you want to avoid steep hills, we recommend arriving via Torninkatu, Kauppiaskatu, or Tuureporinkatu. If you come through Puolalanpuisto Park, there are some stairs and hills along the way.
The nearest cycling routes run along Tuureporinkatu and Puutarhakatu. Bicycle racks are located in front of the museum’s outdoor staircase at the Aurakatu end. Cycling gear and helmets can be left in the museum’s storage areas, but electric bicycles or e-scooters cannot be stored or charged inside the museum.
The locations of Turku city bike stations (Fölläri bikes) can be checked in the Föli route planner.
ARRIVING BY BUSS OR BY TRAIN
From the Turku bus station and the main railway station, the museum can be reached on foot in 5–10 minutes. Turku railway station is located at Logomo (Logomon Silta 1), right next to Puolalanpuisto Park and close to the museum.
If you arrive from the Logomo direction, the shortest route to the museum is via the staircase on Läntinen Pitkäkatu. Please note that the staircase is steep and is not maintained in winter. An easier route to the museum runs via Läntinen Pitkäkatu, Kauppiaskatu, and Torninkatu.
Local public transport lines stop near Market Square (Kauppatori), from where it is only a short walk of a few minutes to the museum.
ARRIVING BY CAR
There are a limited number of paid street parking spaces around the museum. The P-Louhi Parking Garage, located beneath Puolala Park, offers paid parking (entrance and exit at Läntinen Pitkäkatu 12b). Please note that there is no direct access from P-Louhi to the museum; access is via Kauppatori, Puolalankatu, or Kauppiaskatu.
Parking spaces in the art museum’s courtyard are reserved for museum use, except for the accessible parking space, which is located to the right of the main entrance steps. The parking space can be reached from the Aurakatu end via the right-hand driveway.
The accessible entrance is located on the right side of the building when viewed from Aurakatu. More detailed instructions can be found below under the heading Easy Access.
