A separate photography permit is required if you bring professional equipment or if the photos are taken for purposes other than personal use. For photography permits, please contact the museum’s communication.

If you would like to take wedding or graduation photos at the museum, please arrange the time in advance with our customer service. Celebratory photography is only possible for small groups and only in the museum lobby areas.

Where Can I Store My Belongings During My Visit?

The museum offers a free, unattended coat rack and free lockers available during your visit. Tokens for the lockers can be borrowed from the museum.

Lockers are located both:

  • on the lobby level next to the coat racks, and

  • in the basement near the restrooms and elevator.

Please note that storage space for large luggage is limited. For more information about storing large suitcases or backpacks, ask at the ticket desk or from museum staff.

We cannot provide long-term storage — lockers are available only for the duration of your museum visit.

Lost items can be inquired about through our customer service:

Why Are Backpacks and Large Bags Not Allowed in the Exhibition Spaces?

Large bags and backpacks are not allowed in the exhibition spaces for the safety of the artworks. Even when we try to be careful, a large bag can accidentally bump into something. By leaving backpacks and large bags in the free lockers, we can help prevent situations that might endanger the valuable objects in the exhibition.

Small bags must also be carried in front of you or in your hand.

You may carry a child in a baby carrier during exhibitions, but it must be worn on the front of your body, not on your back.

Why Is Eating or Drinking Not Allowed in the Exhibition?

Eating and drinking are not allowed in the exhibition spaces to protect the artworks. Liquids, food substances, and even oils from fingertips can damage valuable objects.

Why Are Studded Shoes Not Allowed in the Museum?

Our old and valuable floors cannot withstand studded shoes, so please do not wear them indoors. Studded shoes must be removed immediately upon entering.

You may borrow slippers from the museum for the duration of your visit or bring a pair of indoor shoes with you. Studded shoes can be stored in the free lockers or at the unattended coat rack during your visit.

During winter we do our best to keep the museum courtyard sanded, but please be careful when moving outdoors.

Can I Bring a Pet to the Museum?

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome in the exhibitions.
Other pets are allowed only in the museum café and must be kept on a leash.
