De sm\u00e5 utrotningshotade groddjuren lever sitt liv i terrarier som forskarna byggt f\u00f6r dem. Det naturliga och det konstgjorda, det f\u00f6rlorade och det kommande \u00e4r samtidigt n\u00e4rvarande. Borde man k\u00e4mpa emot v\u00e4rldens f\u00f6rutsp\u00e5dda underg\u00e5ng eller l\u00e5ta sig svepas med av skildringen av apokalypsen? Hurdana verkligheter och framtider bygger vi upp inuti v\u00e5ra huvuden och utanf\u00f6r dem?<\/p>\n

Liinu Gr\u00f6nlund<\/strong>\u00a0och Okku Nuutilainen<\/strong> har under flera \u00e5r f\u00f6ljt forskare och intresserade amat\u00f6rer som specialiserat sig p\u00e5 att ta hand om utrotningshotade grodor. Observe these words<\/em> (2020) inspelades p\u00e5 grodforskningsenheten vid djurg\u00e5rden i Paignton, England. D\u00e4r lever grodorna, som f\u00e5ngats i naturen, i sina sm\u00e5 konstgjorda miniatyrv\u00e4rldar som en del av den ordning som m\u00e4nniskan skapat. Den poetiska dokument\u00e4rfilmen granskar den v\u00e4rld som h\u00e5ller p\u00e5 att f\u00f6rsvinna och den framtid som v\u00e4ntar djurarterna. Den l\u00e5ngsamt framskridande ess\u00e4liknande ber\u00e4ttelsen erinrar stilm\u00e4ssigt om ett meditativt samtal, d\u00e4r budskapet om frihet, ett liv i stunden och en bekymmersfri framtid m\u00f6ter grodornas konstgjorda och reglerade livsmilj\u00f6. Verket granskar m\u00e4nniskans s\u00e4tt att f\u00f6rh\u00e5lla sig till och identifiera sig med djuren samt m\u00e4nniskans plats i v\u00e5r tid, d\u00e5 vi st\u00e5r inf\u00f6r en ny epok, antropocenen, och en ekokris. \u201dDay by day you detach more from all things around you. Your memories are fading<\/em>\u201d, s\u00e4ger en rogivande ber\u00e4ttarr\u00f6st. Detta tycks g\u00e4lla f\u00f6r s\u00e5v\u00e4l grodorna som m\u00e4nniskorna i nul\u00e4get.<\/p>\n

Liinu Gr\u00f6nlund (f. 1984) och Okku Nuutilainen (f. 1981) arbetar med r\u00f6rlig bild b\u00e5de var f\u00f6r sig och som ett arbetspar. Motivet f\u00f6r deras verk har ofta varit en djurart. Observe these words<\/em> \u00e4r deras f\u00f6rsta gemensamma verk, och f\u00f6r n\u00e4rvarande arbetar de med en l\u00e4ngre dokument\u00e4rfilm om samma tema. B\u00e5de Gr\u00f6nlund och Nuutilainen har studerat vid Bildkonstakademin och vid Aalto-universitetets avdelning f\u00f6r filmkonst, Gr\u00f6nlund p\u00e5 linjen f\u00f6r dokument\u00e4rfilm och Nuutilainen p\u00e5 filmklippningslinjen.<\/p>\n
